Museum Internship Opportunities

 

The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula (HMFM) offers paid/unpaid internships in the Spring, Summer, and Fall with the opportunity to extend into shoulder seasons.

 

Spring season – January – April: Priority Application Deadline Nov 15th

Summer season – May – August: Priority Application Deadline March 15th

Fall season – September – December: Priority Application Deadline July 15th

 

Paid internships are offered at two stipend levels

  1. 80-100 hours per semester/season = $500
  2. 160-200 hours per semester/season = $1000

 

HMFM internships offer an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in museum studies, education, development, and marketing as part of a professional non-profit organization. Interns will have the flexibility to work in programs of specific interest to them and will be able to emphasize skills they wish to further develop. University credits available.

Aid in educational efforts and make a difference to our visitors all while learning about Missoula's history yourself and picking up valuable job skills.

Collections Internships

Interested in working behind the scenes of the museum with artifacts or helping with exhibits? Collections Department internships and volunteer opportunities may be right for you!

Development Internship

Here you can further the mission of the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula by assisting with fundraising events, marketing, social media awareness, and development activities.

Living History Internship

Further the mission of the Historical Museum by assisting with living history events, tours, special programs, and educational activities.
