Angie Monaco Palin Internship in Museum Education

 

The mission of the Historical Museum is to keep Missoula County’s history alive for the education and enjoyment of the public. Through the Angie Monaco Palin Internship, you can make a real impact on visitors of all ages. Education Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of capacities, both public-facing and behind the scenes.

 

Examples of Projects:

The Education Intern can expect to work on projects that represent the broad set of skills needed to work in a museum. The intern will experience the thoughtfulness, planning, and pivoting that are required to work in education. Projects will be based on the intern’s interests, the museum’s needs, and scheduling availability.

  • Learn to host a historic building to share its history with the public.
  • Catalog the education department’s artifacts.
  •  Help design activities for the public to engage with the artifacts.
  • Lead field trips and/or summer camps depending on the time of year.
  • Assist with open-to-the-public events.
  • Develop hands-on activities to engage visitors of all ages at the museum.
  • Interns must be available at least 8 hours a week, M-F, 9-5pm, with some exceptions made for certain projects
