Archaeology Day will return in 2025!

April is Archaeology Month in Montana!

 

It is the annual celebration that encourages Montanans to learn more about the rich cultural and archaeological heritage of our state.  Archaeology is the study of human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains.

Free and fun for the whole family!

Meet real live archaeologists and learn about their work
• Lots of hands-on artifacts
• Practice archaeological skills
• Complete an archaeology day passport by visiting with archaeologists
• Learn to excavate in the simulated dig pit
• Make your own petroglyphs in our replicated cave
