The Need to Work

A common slogan during World War II, it was important that families did the best they could with the clothes they had. Sewing on patches and family hand-me-downs where common during the war years as were clothing scrap drives. The American Red Cross repaired 64 millions pieces of clothing, prepared over 2.5 billion surgical dressings and assembled over 30 millions comfort kits from clothing drives during the war years.
