Missoula Memories Project

The Missoula Memories Project was started in 2017 with the goal of capturing one of the most important and intangible facets of history- human stories and memories. The purpose of the project is to collect and preserve the oral history of Missoula County and Western Montana.

HMFM’s Memory Booth is a fully functioning traveling booth with recording tools, tent, and instructions for collecting the oral history of our communities. It can be rented, at no charge, by organizations who are holding events at which they would like to collect stories/memories.

To rent the Memory Booth fill out our questionnaire to determine availability, review user information (see below), sign the borrowers agreement and liability waiver, and arrange pick-up. We encourage anyone to try it and appreciate the stories we will be able to preserve in HMFM’s collection.

If you are considering bringing the Memory Booth to your event, we strongly encourage you to do so. What better way to keep the vibrant and colorful history of our county alive then hearing stories about it from residents and visitors alike and archiving them for future generations to enjoy.

We couldn’t keep Missoula County’s history alive without you!
