Educator Resources

Throughout the year HMFM provides fun family friendly activities, demonstrations, and lectures.  All are free to members of the Friends of the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, many are also free to the public or require a small donation.

Crafts and Conversation

One Saturday a month during January, February, and March, join HMFM staff and other curious crafters to explore a crafting activity.  Previous activities have included quilling, pop-up valentines cards, paper flowers, and snowflakes.  If you have a craft you’d like to demonstrate, contact Kristjana.

Afterschool/Homeschool/Summer Drop-In Activities

Periodically on Thursday afternoons the museum provides free educational activities based on a historical theme.  Some examples include forestry and fires, the telegraph, the bicycle soldiers at Fort Missoula, and homesteading.

Book Talks and Lectures

The Museum provides insightful lectures and film screenings relating to Fort Missoula, often partnering with local organizations such as The Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History, The University of Montana and the League of Women Voters.
